Imagine an America without Hollywood. Without Apple or Gap, the Beach Boys or the L.A. Lakers, Mickey Mouse or Snoop Dogg, the Golden Gate Bridge or the Malibu surf. Without its pinot noir or its avocados or its sun-kissed heartlands of easy-going optimism. It’s almost unimaginable. But thousands of Californians, disgusted at the racism, misogyny and dishonesty unleashed in the course of Donald Trump’s election as U.S. President, are beginning to imagine it.
